Hotel FF&E sourcing in Spain splits along one line: coastal resorts on the Costa del Sol, the Balearics and the Canaries place one large order months before a short, intense summer season, while city hotels in Madrid and Barcelona replace stock in smaller batches year-round. A supplier working across both needs two different playbooks, not one.
That distinction matters because getting it wrong costs money in different ways. A resort that orders late risks arriving into July without full room stock during the weeks it earns most of its annual revenue. A city hotel that treats every order like a seasonal bulk buy ties up cash in furniture sitting in a warehouse.
Yes, and the difference shows up in order size, timing and specification. Coastal resorts on the Costa del Sol, in Málaga province, and across the Balearic and Canary Islands typically place a single consolidated FF&E order for the season, covering rooms, pool and terrace furniture, and public areas in one shipment timed to land 6 to 8 weeks before opening.
Coastal properties, especially anything within a few hundred metres of the water, need furniture specified for salt-air exposure: powder-coated aluminium or marine-grade finishes on balcony and terrace pieces, UV-stable outdoor fabrics that don't fade in a Mediterranean summer, and hardware rated for humidity rather than standard indoor fittings. A city hotel buying the same casegoods for an interior guest room has none of those constraints and can prioritise finish and design over corrosion resistance.
If a Costa del Sol or Balearic property's high season opens in June, place the bulk pre-season order by January. That leaves roughly five months for manufacturing, EU transit and, for the islands, the extra ferry or short-sea leg, with a buffer if anything is delayed.
