Ramadan 2027 is expected to begin on 8 February and end on 8 March, based on the Umm al-Qura calendar, with Eid al-Fitr around 9 March. To land goods in a Gulf hotel by 1 February, order custom case goods by 31 August, curtains by 26 October, mattresses by 23 November and stocked linen by 7 December. Dates can move by a day.
Many Gulf hotels run their busiest months from late autumn to spring, and Ramadan sits inside that window. The practical problem is not that nothing moves during the month, it is that schedules become harder to predict. Plan so that nothing important depends on a delivery inside it.
When is Ramadan 2027?
The Umm al-Qura calendar, which Saudi Arabia uses, places the first day of Ramadan 1448 on 8 February 2027 and the last on 8 March. Eid al-Fitr then falls on or about 9 March. Countries that rely on moon sighting can start or end a day earlier or later, so treat every date here as plus or minus one day and confirm closer to the time.
What dates should you order by to land before Ramadan?
The dates below aim for goods on site by 1 February 2027, a week before the month starts, so customs clearance and installation are not squeezed. They use the landed lead-time ranges in our FF&E lead-time guide. "Safe" uses the slow end of each range, "best case" the fast end.
- Custom case goods (14 to 22 weeks landed): safe 31 August, best case 26 October
- Custom upholstery (12 to 18 weeks): safe 28 September, best case 9 November
- Curtains and soft furnishings (8 to 14 weeks): safe 26 October, best case 7 December
- Mattresses and bed systems (6 to 10 weeks): safe 23 November, best case 21 December
- Stock towels, robes and linen (4 to 8 weeks): safe 7 December, best case 4 January
- Kettles, hair dryers and televisions (2 to 4 weeks): safe 4 January, best case 18 January
Two categories are already behind today (13 October): custom case goods and custom upholstery. If you need them before Ramadan, switch to stocked equivalents, which land in six to ten weeks.
What slows down during Ramadan?
We do not publish port or customs hours for individual countries, and they change. What hotels and contractors commonly report is shorter working hours for many staff, adjusted shift patterns for installers and a slower pace at government offices and clearing agents. Ask your freight forwarder and installer for their Ramadan schedule in writing, not just a date.
- Customs and clearance: allow extra days, and have every document ready before the vessel arrives.
- Installation crews: confirm availability and hours before you book installation inside the month.
- Your own team: reduced hours can affect snagging, sign-off and receiving. Schedule inspections for the mornings.
Planning the shipment around the month
If a container is already booked and will arrive in the first weeks of Ramadan, ask the forwarder whether it can be cleared and delivered to a warehouse and installed after the month ends. Holding goods in a project warehouse for three weeks is usually cheaper than a missed opening. If you want us to check a specific delivery date, send us the destination and room count. Our Gulf sourcing guide covers what to check in a Gulf spec, and the import duties note covers budget lines.
